Leading Learning Consortium Members

Peel District School Board has offered teacher professional development and high school credits online since 2001. Peel hosts the ANGEL Learning Management System which houses our online courses. In addition to providing fully online courses, we support day school classroom teachers who wish to teach our online courses in a blended fashion.

The Toronto Catholic District School Board through the eClass portal (Blackboard Learning System) supports online learning through the blended model, continuing education courses, and resources sharing for Professional Learning Communities.

Trillium Lakelands District School Board, in partnership with a number of school districts and organizations across Ontario (Portal Organizations for Online Learning), has been offering online professional development and grades 9 - 12 courses since 1997. Trillium hosts e-learning portals powered by Intralearn and has integrated Adobe Connect components across all courses marking a shift from asynchronous to synchronous delivery.

York Region District School (YRDSB) offers teachers and administrators a wide-variety online professional development courses. As well YRDSB has launched a teaching and learning portal that provides teachers and students with access to virtual learning communities, electronic resources, and online curriculum activities and credit courses.

York University’s Office of the Vice President, Research and Innovation (VPRI) understands that new approaches to teaching and learning are necessary in a technology driven, knowledge-based society. To this end VPRI has taken a leadership role in the development of the Advanced Broadband Enabled Learning (ABEL) program. ABEL seeks to improve student achievement and transform teacher/faculty professional practice through the use of broadband and information communications technologies (ICT).
